What Comes After Inktober

What comes after Inktober?

Why the answer to that would be Thanksgiving, of course! In the meantime, I have taken some inspiration from Inktober and added it to the days of preparation for the upcoming holidays. Hope everyone is having an enjoyable end of the year, and a peaceful, non-stressful holiday season.

A few drawings I have done in my sketchbook for the past few weeks.

Portrait Drawing

October 29, 2019

Love taking this class. Tony is very patient with his students and helps them to develop their own style. He helps them figure out what is working in a painting or drawing, and what adjustments they might want to make to move forward in their art.

Tony Pro’s Portrait Class at Coppini Academy

We are almost to the end of the 2019 INKTOBER Challenge

I enjoy joining in on the INKTOBER challenges (even though I don’t do them every year). They are a refreshing way to get your brain into art mode and generate some ideas for later paintings, or just to explore ideas that you wouldn’t normally spend time on.

This year I have used most of the prompts to generate drawings strictly from memory/imagination, with the exception so far of one drawing that I did while looking at an actual object and the other from looking at one of my photos.

Using prompts gives you practice, and can generate new ideas. This year, so far, my challenge drawings have gone into two sketchbooks - a Fabriano Sketch 5 3/4” x 8 1/4” and a Fabriano Black Drawing book 6” x 6.” The ink pens have been Aen Art glitter gel pens, and Sakura Pigma Micron, Graphic, and Brush pen (black).

Today’s challenge #25:

Working on INKTOBER has gotten me back into to working with Procreate digital and with some of my watercolor as well.

Meanwhile, Back at Class

I finally got a chance to get back to Tony Pro’s class at Coppini.

Pencil on Newspaper Print

Tuesday, October 1, 2019

If you want to join INKTOBER 2019, it begins today. You can search for their rules of entry online. They actually want the drawings to be in ink (you can do an underdrawing in pencil). Mine only has touches of ink. Check it out! It is a fun way to get started on some drawing ideas.

Is there such a thing as having too much fun with my art?

Digital Painting with Procreate

Thursday, January 3, 2019

As you can probably tell, I got a little irritated over the fact that I couldn’t just go into a digital program and quickly whip up a New Year’s greeting for everyone at the last minute. So, I decided that I would have to try to remedy that. I also had a small project that I wanted to work on. Someone’s anniversary was coming up. As you can see below, I have just been playing with the digital program - Procreate. Have to say, I really like it.
