HAPPY NEW YEAR 2019!

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2019!

I lost my favorite digital app when my old tablet died. I am trying to learn Procreate, but in the meantime had to throw together a quick digital drawing in the 3D program. I didn’t bother to sign this - don’t think it will be a museum piece!

At any rate, Happy New Year to everyone!

Landscapes

New Samples and Landscapes

I decided to drop in on a Golden Acrylic demo that was being done here locally. I didn’t know if it would be pretty much the same as the one I had seen before or not, but repetition is not always a bad thing, and I love color. One thing you can definitely achieve with acrylics is lots of fun color. They gave us some samples for dropping by, and I decided to experiment with them.

First, I tried an ocean scene from photos I had taken when in the San Diego area. I used watercolor paper, Golden Polymer (medium gloss) Golden fluid acrylics, F&W acrylic inks, a very small amount of Liquitex (soft body), a very small amount of Liquitex string gel, and some Golden Soft Gel Gloss.

Next, I decided to simply build a scene using pretty much the same above mentioned supplies along with some Japanese paper. I placed this on a small canvas board (8” x 8”).

Happy 4th of July

Happy 4th of July!

From my sketchbook. Acrylic (iridescent) ink

My apologies for the fact that the iridescence doesn't show up in the scan. At any rate, Happy 4th of July

Sometimes You Just Have to Play - Playing With Paint 3D

While playing with the 2D portion of Paint 3D has been fun, I decided I wanted to try my hand at the 3D portion. There are still a lot of things that I need to figure out on this, but it has been fun.

Sketchbook Drawing and Digital Experiment

Experimenting with Paint 3D digital program

Playing with drawings and digital experiments: in Tony's class we do quick, timed drawings in order to warm up. I decided that I wanted to play and experiment with this one. I transferred a line drawing of this to my sketchbook. Then, I wanted to experiment with the line drawing without messing up the drawing in my sketchbook with something that I might not like. I did a really quick experiment with the line drawing by transferring it into digital. I have decided that I want to experiment some more before making final changes to my sketchbook drawing.

Sometimes You Want to Draw in Your Sketchbook

This was drawn freehand, but I did use two of my photos that I took years ago as reference for the shapes of the main flower and the cat.
